Joe Biden is calling on corporate America to raise wages for workers as rising inflation creates “bumps in the road” for the US economic recovery.

Biden made the trip to defend the administration’s economic record and respond to Republican criticism that higher prices and labor shortages were overheating the economy and stalling the recovery.

Biden stated, “Rising wages aren’t a bug, they are a feature. Instead of workers competing with each other for jobs that are scarce, we want employers to compete with each other to attract workers.”

He continued, “Corporate profits are the highest they’ve been in decades, and worker’s pay is the lowest it’s been in 70 years. We have more than ample room to raise worker’s pay without raising customer prices.”

Companies are starting to notice a demand and have started taking action, hopefully, improving the economy.

Meanwhile, according to a new analysis published by Indeed this week, the premature loss of unemployment benefits in two dozen states caused a modest uptick in job searches.
