Oahu, Hawaii residents who need help covering their bills will have another opportunity to sign up for the city’s rent and utility assistance programs.

Starting Monday, 10,000 new applications will be accepted as the online portal opens at 6 pm.

Applicants can receive up to $2,000 a month for rent that’s paid directly to the landlord and another $500 a month for utilities.

Since its launching in April, the program has accepted a total of 12,000 applications.

Because of the high demand, it’s not expected to open long so make sure you set up an alarm.

Meanwhile, Maryland hospitality workers gathered Friday in downtown Baltimore to protest the governor’s decision to stop federal enhanced unemployment benefits.

Governor Larry Hogan informed the federal government on Friday that the state of Maryland was opting out of enhanced unemployment benefits effective July 3rd.

The workers said they still have jobs but remain laid off because the hotels and restaurants they work for haven’t called them back yet.
