Here’s your unemployment update for Saturday, November 14th, 2020

Tennessee officials have announced a partnership to help about 500,000 people receiving unemployment benefits earn a college degree while they fulfill work search requirements.

The Department of Labor and Workforce Development will be partnering with the Tennessee Higher Education Commission’s Tennessee Reconnect program.

The program will offer free education for two years at a community or technical college for eligible adults who do not have a degree.

Up next, unfortunately, we are seeing a lot of states enforcing strict closures to battle that thing out there, but fortunately New Mexico workers may be able to reopen their unemployment benefits claims.

Workforce Solutions says the option is open to people who were claiming unemployment, then returned to work, but now are out work again or working reduced hours.

Workers who may have already exhausted their 26 weeks can apply for the states PUA.

And finally, Missouri gets $6 million in federal aid to create thousands of tech apprenticeships.

The Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation is deploying $6 million to create 5,300 new tech industry apprenticeships.

The effort is meant to give participants a feel for whether they would like to make a living in the profession.

President Dan Mehan calls the investment a game-changer, “Over the last two years, our state ranks second in the number of completed apprenticeships — second behind California.”

According to the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry, about 94% of apprentices are retained by their employers after they complete their apprenticeships and the average salary is not too shabby — about $70,000.

If you still haven’t applied for unemployment assistance, celebrate the weekend by applying for these benefits today!

Check out your state’s PUA or UI website, give them your employment history, and explain that you’re currently out of work due to that thing out there,

For your troubles, you could be eligible to receive a backdated unemployment check for $10,000!

To all of the gig-workers, self-employed, independent contractors, 1099 workers, even side hustlers, volunteers, and freelancers, the government did not forget about you and they created the PUA just for people like you

Don’t miss out on your chance to receive these incredible government unemployment benefits before they expire on December 31st
