This Simple Secret Will Make You Happier
What does it mean to be happy? It can be tough to nail down a description, as we all have different definitions for this state of mind. Generally described as a state of well-being, the mindset we know as happiness varies from person to person, minute to minute. As one of the most intense feelings that humans experience, the pursuit of being happy is a vital journey that requires constant upkeep and dedication.
As a motivational speaker and life-coach, I have helped countless people discover their true selves and achieve a level of happiness once thought unattainable. From feeling content, successful and comfortable in their professional lives to experiencing extreme personal joy and fulfillment, happiness is the key to living the best life possible.
But what if you feel stuck in a rut and deem happiness as a distant and unachievable reality? We’ve all been down before, but it can be especially difficult for people that can’t pick themselves up easily. Fortunately, I have discovered the secret to attaining happiness in both personal and professional situations.
Have No Expectations
The primary reason why I am happy is because I have no expectations. I hope that people will do as they say and can be counted on, but I don’t expect them to and am never disappointed by their actions. With this mindset, I am grateful when people come through and feel ecstatic and appreciative.
Expectations can ruin your belief and trust in others, when the true blame falls at your feet. If you expect someone to do something and are upset when they are unable to complete the task, you probably should have just done the job yourself. But if you hope that someone does something and are surprised and ecstatic that they succeeded, your levels of happiness and appreciation skyrocket.
Happiness is tough to achieve and your path to attaining this state of well-being may take years to master. I hope that by cutting out expectations from your life, you are able to reduce stress levels and live a happier life.
