The Third Round of Stimulus Payments Soon?
Here’s your daily stimulus check, your second stimulus check, your executive action, executive order, memorandums, moratoriums, and stimulus package update for Sunday, January 3rd, 2021.
But first, the homes of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi were vandalized over the weekend after Congress adjourned Friday without securing $2,000 stimulus checks.
Messages like “where’s my money” and other expletives were written with spray paint and fake blood across McConnell’s and Pelosi’s home.
In a response to the vandalism, McConnell said in a statement Saturday morning, “I’ve spent my career fighting for the First Amendment and defending peaceful protest. I appreciate every Kentuckian who has engaged in the democratic process whether they agree with me or not.”
He added, “My wife and I have never been intimidated by this toxic playbook. We just hope our neighbors in Louisville aren’t inconvenienced by this radical tantrum.”
While we may not always agree with our Senators and congressmen, to call for change and to be proactive we must take to the election polls instead to voice our opinions.
Up next, Stimulus payments are coming faster this time, but not everyone will get theirs at once, and some may have to wait weeks or even months.
There’s a Jan. 15th cutoff for the IRS to complete sending payments.
People who have direct deposit information such as those who receive SSI and SSDI can expect to get theirs right away if you haven’t already.
The IRS began sending the first paper checks in the mail but the US Treasury can process between 5 million and 7 million paper stimulus checks a week in addition to checks for other federal programs.
So many will have to wait a while for them to get it processed.
Because of this Jan. 15th deadline, anyone that still hasn’t receive there’s by that date will have to claim it in early 2021 during tax season.
According to cnet.com, “The timing then becomes a matter of how soon you submit your taxes for 2020 and how quickly the IRS would be able to process your return.”
So if you still haven’t received your stimulus check yet, hang tight because it just might be on the way.
And finally, As the IRS has began sending out our stimulus payments the battle for additional relief isn’t done.
President-elect Joe Biden is promising to push for more checks after he’s sworn in on Jan. 20th.
And finally, As the IRS has began sending out our stimulus payments the battle for additional relief isn’t done.
President-elect Joe Biden is promising to push for more checks after he’s sworn in on Jan. 20th.
Biden has referred to the current $600 checks as a “down payment” on what’s to come once he’s in office.
At a news conference days before Christmas, he talked about his plans for a new coronavirus rescue package. A reporter asked if it would include more direct payments — and in what amount?
Biden said, “Look, that’s a anegotiating issue, but it will, yes it will.”
Whether Biden succeeds in getting a third round of stimulus checks may depend in large part on Tuesday’s runoff elections in Georgia that will determine which party controls the U.S. Senate.
A third round of stimulus payments may still be needed based on statistics.
“A census survey released in mid-December found that more than 85 million Americans are having trouble paying rent and covering other regular expenses.”
Some Top Republicans and Democrats have already showed their support of the President’s $2,000 stimulus proposal.
