According to CNBC, 63% of people in the U.S. are living paycheck to paycheck. This isn’t just in New York or California: this is in every state. So why is that?

One likely reason is that we’re just spending too much on the essentials. Would you believe that we had a choice? It may be impractical to pack up and move somewhere a little cheaper so you can get a handle on your bills. So instead, let’s talk about some ways that you can reduce your cost of living right now.

Check to See How Much You’re Paying in Insurance

Things like homeowners insurance, renters insurance, and car insurance are essential and must be paid monthly. They’re also among the most expensive things you’ll be spending your hard-earned cash on.

Start off by checking the prices of car insurance in your local area. Are you really getting the cheapest available option? There are plenty of websites and resources out there for you to compare different insurance costs so you can get your dollar’s worth.

A lot of people waste around $500 a year, overpaying on car insurance. Similarly, they waste almost $700 on homeowner’s insurance and renters insurance.
