Stimulus check update, Second Stimulus Daily stimulus check, your second stimulus check, your executive action, order, memorandums, moratoriums, and stimulus package update for Friday, 11–13–2020.

According to a new study from Franklin Templeton-Gallup, Americans are more likely to spend more during the holiday season if another $1,200 stimulus check is approved.

With no further stimulus before the holidays, 37% of Americans polled said that they would be spending less during the holidays, with just 16% intending to spend more on gifts.

But when asked if receiving another $1,200 stimulus check would impact spending habits, only 30% stated they would spend less, and 22% explained they would spend more during the holidays.

While it may seem obvious that people will spend more money if they have a larger bank account, Congress doesn’t seem to get the picture and continues to delay the approval of a much-needed Phase 4 disaster relief bill.

Meanwhile, leading Congressional Democrats continue to push another stimulus package before President-Elect Joe Biden takes over the White House in January.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer explained yesterday: “The Donald Trump approach was repudiated and the Joe Biden approach was embraced. That is why we think there is a better chance of getting a deal in the lame-duck.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi described negotiations as: “It’s like the house is burning down and they just refuse to throw water on it.”

Senator Charles E. Grassley stated that Mitch McConnell is taking over negotiations from the White House, explaining: “There hasn’t been any discussion yet between McConnell and Pelosi, but McConnell is not going to rely on Mnuchin anymore to do the dealing.”

He continued: “I think he’s intending to take it over and try to get something going.”

Hopefully, Congress can make this lame-duck session a cool duck session, with trillions of dollars in stimulus funds to help us make it through the rest of this wacky year.

Finally, Bernie Sanders recently called on Congress to pass what he calls a: “real stimulus package.”

So what does Bernie want in his newly proposed stimulus package? Pretty much, it’s what we’ve been waiting on for months.

In a Tweet from last night, Sanders explained: “The pandemic is surging, and tens of millions of Americans are facing economic devastation.”

He continued: “The Senate needs to pass a real stimulus package NOW that provides $2,000 a month to the working class, $600 a week to the unemployed and expands Medicare to all.”

Hopefully, Congress can get behind this targeted, but ample stimulus package, especially with the second wave in full effect and the future of the economy still up in the air.
