Stimulus Update: NEW $1.4 Trillion Stimulus Package Announced in Senate Biden’s Plan
Stimulus Update 11–11–20
Stimulus check update, Second Stimulus Daily stimulus check, your second stimulus check, your executive action, order, memorandums, moratoriums, and stimulus package update for Wednesday, 11–11–2020.
Republican Representative Tom Reed spoke with CNBC yesterday and expressed his opinions on a Phase 4 disaster relief bill.
Explaining that a smaller stimulus package is more likely to be signed into law by Trump before President-Elect Biden takes office, Reed stated: “Obviously you’re dealing with the same dynamics that you had prior to the election. And if we’re going to get it in a lame-duck [session], I think you’re going to get a smaller deal.”
Reed continued: “That is going to be very targeted on areas like the airline industry, like the restaurant industry, as a small business. Those areas that are really hurting right now, if it has any chance to get through.”
Reed explained that this more “realistic” stimulus package has a better chance of gaining approval in Congress, and will postpone passing a big bill which they plan on “looking at after a new administration comes in.”
While I’d love to see a massive stimulus package with a multi-trillion dollar price tag, this makeshift stimulus bill could provide necessary fiscal relief to millions of Americans right now.
Meanwhile, Senate Republicans recently unveiled a new $1.4 trillion stimulus package, which focuses on, you guessed it, funding for themselves to avoid a government shutdown on December 12th.
While this new bill does offer support for many government programs such as NASA and veterans’ programs, it does not offer another round of stimulus checks, extended enhanced unemployment benefits, or funding to crush the virus.
Senator Roy Blunt explained: “I’ve had this argument before and so far I’ve lost. I argued 12 years ago, the Obama transition, that the best thing you could do to help the new president was to get this year’s work done, and we didn’t get it done.”
Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Richard Shelby stated: “By and large, these bills are the product of bipartisan cooperation among members of the committee.”
He continued: “Time after time, we have demonstrated our willingness to work together and get the job done. We have before us the opportunity to deliver for the American people once again.”
If y’all are willing to pass a $1.4 trillion stimulus bill for yourselves, please give us at least the same amount in stimulus funds to help us get through the rest of this crazy year.
Finally, President-elect Joe Biden made some encouraging comments about passing another stimulus package before he takes over the White House in January.
Biden explained in a press conference yesterday: “One of the urgent things that need to be done is people need relief right now.”
He continued: “right now: small businesses, people who are about to be evicted from their homes because they can’t pay their mortgage, unemployment insurance.”
Regarding getting a bill passed before Biden makes the Oval Office his own, he stated: “I would hope the president at least has the sensitivity and knowledge to know a lot of people are in real trouble right now, between now and the time we get sworn in.”
I completely agree with Biden here and hope that Trump can let his frustrations mellow down enough to hear the cries of the American public demanding a new stimulus package before the end of the year.
