Here’s your unemployment update for Sunday, February 14th, 2021
North Carolina has given people $10 billion in unemployment benefits since March, however, based on federal guidelines, North Carolina’s extended benefits will end on Feb. 20th.
The extended benefit is a federal program that extends state unemployment insurance benefits during periods of high unemployment in a state.
Generally, state unemployment benefits distribute 12–16 weeks before they run out, the EB program helps extend that.
However, even though the program is ending, there are other options for unemployed residents.
Claimants who are eligible for the PEUC under the recent federal extension of benefits may return to the PEUC program when the Extended Benefits program ends.
PEUC benefits are available through the week ending March 13, 2021.
