Members of the Culinary Union are making a push for the passage of the Right to Return bill in Las Vegas.
The Right to Return bill would allow tens of thousands of laid-off hospitality, casino, travel, and stadium workers the chance to return to their jobs if they were laid off.
Union members say they are being replaced by people who are working for less money and fewer benefits.
The Nevada State Legislature is set to adjourn on June 1st.
Considering the restaurant industry has been advocating for lawmakers to end unemployment benefits, it’ll be interesting given to see what lawmakers have to say.
Meanwhile, Some states are paying one-time bonuses of up to $2,000 to unemployed workers who accept a job.
The plan includes a broader strategy to address a perceived labor shortage, although some economics are skeptical it will be effective at attracting all out-of-work residents to the labor market.
