NEW STATE PAYING $300 Unemployment Extension
Here’s your unemployment update for Sunday, January 10th, 2021
While help is on the way for some Nevadans awaiting extended unemployment benefits, others may be waiting weeks.
While DETR was able to activate changes to allow most claimants to start getting the extra $300 weekly payments right away, the state’s unemployment system will have to wait for guidance from the Department of Labor on the remaining changes.
Officials states, “Ultimately, the president signed the bill, and DETR has been working diligently over the holidays to continue payments without interruption to as many eligible Nevadans as we can.”
They continued, “Until we receive this guidance, DETR cannot move forward.”
Depending on the complexity of the guidance, it is anticipated that these changes could be made within four weeks to those on PUA and PEUC.
We are hopeful that this will not take that long as some starts have begun the process already.
Meanwhile, The Federal Department of Labor is opening two investigations into Hawaii’s unemployment insurance system.
