NEW BILL NO UNEMPLOYMENT TAXES $300/$400 PUA FPUC Unemployment Benefits Stimulus Check Update
Here’s your unemployment update for Wednesday, February 3rd, 2021
A new study published this week by Eliza Forsythe, a labor economist at the University of Illinois, shows some alarming data regarding jobless Americans that can’t collect unemployment benefits and the need for $1,400 stimulus checks.
Her study concludes that at best, 30% of jobless Americans are currently collecting unemployment benefits.
This means that 70% of unemployed Americans, as many as 8 million people, are not receiving the disaster relief funds and extended enhanced unemployment benefits that they deserve.
Opting for $1,400 stimulus checks instead of our traditional unemployment systems, Forsythe explained: “This indicates that the current [unemployment insurance] system is not up to the task of targeting relief to the unemployed.”
She continued: “If the federal government is interested in providing relief to the unemployed, universal checks are likely the best way to provide support to the 70% who are outside of the UI system.”
