The actual unemployment figures showed decent news for the economy, but were just a bit higher than last week’s numbers, and underperformed the estimates of those economists at the DOW Jones
The weekly report showed that 374,000 Americans filed their first-time unemployment claims, which is slightly higher than the previous week’s 371,000 revised initial claims
They were also higher than the 350,000 first time claims predicted by the Dow Jones economists, but are still below the 400,000-mark once again and illustrates how hundreds of thousands of Americans are still in need of these vital unemployment benefits
Meanwhile, the great state of California is once again having unemployment related issues, this time due to their backlog of over 1 million unemployment claims waiting to be approved
Fortunately, the Golden State is looking to hire new employees to handle these outstanding unemployment claims, as now all 80 members of the state Assembly are authorized to hire new staffers
