Let’s face it, we have been pent up for quite some time. With restrictions now being lifted and mandates being relaxed, summer travel is becoming more of a likelihood. But don’t let the urge to be out in the world hurt your wallet.

Coming home from a vacation feels even worse when you look at your bank account and realize you won’t be able to splurge until next year, so here are 5 ways you can cheat your vacation into working for your wallet.

  1. Book Wisely

With summer upon us and the airways open, you aren’t going to be the only person who had the idea to travel which means that avoiding crowds is key.

To start, it is vital to choose the right destination for you. Going to Paris sounds nice, but going to Paris, one of the most popular destinations in the summer means paying those high-tier prices.

Instead, consider alternative types of vacations. Budget travel expert Barry Choi explains, “Cruises and tours are currently offering some of the biggest discounts right now.”

2. Public Transportation

Save yourself the headache of car rentals and the high rates of rideshares like Uber.

You can save quite a bit on your next trip if you take the time to research the public transportation options your destination provides.
