Bill Passed TODAY: What it Means For Biden’s Infrastructure Plan

The vote was 65 to 35, with 15 Republicans siding with the Democrats. All that’s left to do for President Biden is to add his signature.

What is this bill, though? Since the government was on the brink of running out of money completely, the Senate and House passed this short-term spending bill to keep the government funded until December.

Representative Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut, the chairwoman of the House Appropriations Committee said: “This bill is not a permanent solution. I look forward to soon beginning negotiations with my counterparts across the aisle and across the Capitol to complete full year government funding bills.”

This “temporary solution” was quickly taken to the floor just after a similar funding package was blocked on Monday. Republicans blocked it because Democrats included a provision that would have raised the government’s ability to keep borrowing money until the end of 2022.

The goal of this legislation is to give these lawmakers more time to reach a solid agreement on the bills that dictate future government spending. So this could POTENTIALLY mean big things for Joe Biden’s infrastructure plan.
