While the eviction moratorium is set to end at the end of the month, Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan announced that she is extending the city’s moratorium until Sept. 30th.

The eviction moratorium was first put in place in March 2020, in hopes of helping those who lost their jobs and were unable to pay rent.

A statewide moratorium is still in place, currently set to expire on June 30th.

However, Governor Inslee says he knows it’s urgent, but said Thursday he was not ready to announce if the eviction moratorium will be extended past June 30th in Washington.

Property owners in Seattle may not serve termination notices or bring eviction actions to the courts during the eviction moratorium period unless a health or safety issue is present.

This is great news that the city continues to help their communities get back on their feet.

Meanwhile, lawmakers continue to urge the White House to approve a fourth stimulus check for Americans who are struggling financially.

Some are proposing that future relief be tied to economic conditions, meaning stimulus checks might hit…
