Happy Thursday, which means it’s time to talk about the state of the US economy and unemployment figures in this week’s jobs report from our friends at the Department of Labor.

This week’s jobs report showed both good and bad news for the economy, as the actual unemployment figures were slightly higher than last week, but exceeded the estimates of the economists from the DOW Jones.

The weekly report showed that 745,000 Americans filed their first-time unemployment claims, which is just higher than the previous week’s 736,000 revised initial claims.

These numbers are also slightly below the 850,000 first-time claims predicted by economists, which is the closest they’ve been to the actual figures in quite a while.

I hope that these initial unemployment numbers start to drop once again, as it pains me to think about more than 745,000 Americans filing claims for the first time.

Meanwhile, a recent basic income experiment in the city of Stockton in the great state of California, showed some very interesting information regarding providing a basic income for residents and employment…
