50 WEEKS! $400 + $300 Retroactive Unemployment Benefits Unemployment PUA PEUC SSDI SSI
Here’s your unemployment update for Monday, February 8th, 2021
Tens of thousands of Arizonans are collecting unemployment, but a new bill would allow thousands more to also file claims.
On Friday, both Republicans and Democrats in the state capitol introduced this new bill in the state capital and it would increase the maximum benefit to $300 a week.
Arizona has the second-lowest unemployment benefit in the country and the maximum benefit Arizonans could receive in unemployment is $240 a week.
Dave Wells with the Grand Canyon Institute stated, “it’s going to mean about $240 more a month, and while that still might be a lot less than they receive in other states, it’s way better than they’re currently receiving.”
Republican Rep. Mitzi Epstein also stated, “Unemployment insurance is supposed to be the bridge to the next job. And for folks with a good career and couple kids and a mortgage, it has not been anywhere near a bridge.”
This is fantastic news and hopes that the Supreme Court considers passing the bill.
