$400 Unemployment Benefits Extensions Biden’s $1.9 Trillion Stimulus Package Plan
Here’s your unemployment update for Friday, January 15th, 2021.
Yesterday’s weekly jobs report from the Department of Labor also came with another set of figures: the insured unemployment rate for states across America.
This figure can be found by taking the number of people on unemployment benefits in any state and dividing it by the labor force.
According to the DOL, Alaska has the highest insured unemployment rate at 6.5%.
Kansas is next with 6.2%, third is Pennsylvania with 6%, fourth is New Mexico with 5.7% and fifth is Illinois with 5.6%.
In terms of the standard unemployment rate that looks at just the size of the labor force, New Jersey came in at #1 with 10.2%.
Hawaii and Nevada share the second spot with 10.1%, which makes sense given how much these states rely on tourism.
I just hope that all states can get below the 10% number soon, which seems possible in the next few months.
