$2400 CHECKS? SENATE VOTE TODAY $1400 Third Stimulus Check Update + WEEKLY Unemployment PUA SSI
Republican Representative Peter Meijer recently stated his problems with President Biden’s $1.9 trillion stimulus package, but not for the reason that many of his GOP party mates believe.
Meijer wants to boost the number of stimulus checks offered to eligible Americans by $1,000, from $1,400 to $2,400, but only to certain groups of people.
Under this new stimulus proposal, $2,400 stimulus checks would go to individuals making less than $50,000 a year, rather than the $75,000 threshold offered in the American Rescue Plan.
Meijer explained: “At the end of the day, there is spending that could be accounted for or that the American people can target direct needs and the fact that I can put together a proposal that’s been scored and that is $1 trillion less.”
While I’d love to see $2,400 stimulus checks going out to the Americans that need financial support the most, a price tag of $1 trillion or less is just not sufficient enough to help the millions of people that still desperately need disaster relief funds.
