Here’s your unemployment update for Wednesday, January 6th, 2021.
Private employers in America cut jobs for the first time since April, shedding 123,000 positions last month.
This is in stark contrast to the 88,000 jobs that the economists over at Refinitiv thought would be gained during December 2020.
Ahu Yildirmaz, vice president and co-head of the ADP Research Institute, stated: “As the impact of the [virus] on the labor market intensifies, December posted the first decline since April 2020.”
The leisure and hospitality industry suffered the most job losses, with 58,000 positions lost in December.
I just hope that this new year brings plenty of new jobs, sources of income, and a stable economy, as we finally get back to some kind of normalcy.
